VISION

To be regarded by Men's Shed's in NSW as the premier source of advice for establishing new Sheds and assisting shed's in best practice governance that encourages diverse operations that are inclusive of all within their communities.

MISSION

  1.  To provide service and support to Sheds by mentoring and consulting on broad management issues.

  2.  To promote and encourage sheds in their purpose of advancing mental health by providing shedders with access to current mental health information and resources, building their capacity to understand mental health issues.

  3.  To develop strategies and piloted activities for promoting social inclusion by providing a healthy environment for members, ensuring and building support for all in the community.

  4.  To ensure effective communication with and between sheds by utilizing the website, newsletters, published guidelines, training manuals, and encouraging networking through sharing information by using all means of communication including social media.

  5.  To provide introductory Workplace Health and Safety briefings and training to all operational Sheds.

  6.  To provide management capacity and capability development training.

Relationship with Government

  1. To be acknowledged by the government as the peak organization with funding to support the state organization.

  2. To be recognized by Government and other peak organizations as a credible provider of information and policy inputs regarding the ageing population and the benefits of Men’s Sheds in particular to the community.

Relationship with other Peak Organizations

  1. To establish links with other peak organizations servicing the aged and disadvantaged.

  2. To participate with other peak organizations in studies and research into issues of common interest.

     ​This statement was reviewed in January 2020 and updated on the basis of what it is envisaged the AMSA –     NSW  practices will be in three years' time.
